Mission

The high mission of the Foundation is the study and promotion of Aldo Rossi’s extensive work through exhibitions, books, and international symposiums, held in collaboration with Italian and international cultural institutions, museums and architecture schools.

The goal is bringing attention and recognition to one of the most important intellectuals of the global postwar panorama, as Rossi combined his knowledge and love for architecture and the complexity of his cultural vision applied to theory and teaching, with the excellence of his artistic production.

Highlighting each one of Rossi’s talent is what the Foundation has done and will continue to do, so as to disseminating studies, exhibitions, and books, in an open collaboration with the global players of culture.

Managing a substantial nucleus of works, writings, bibliography, photographic and archive documents, the Foundation aims to continue the cataloging of all the drawings and documentation, so that Aldo Rossi’s creative courses are reconstituted in a single virtual corpus. The works’ archive is divided into: drawings and sketches related to architecture and product design, artistic production, publications, lessons, correspondences, bibliography, film, documentaries, interviews and personal and contextual photographs and documents.

The cataloging of the unique works that accompanied Rossi’s designs is underway, both architectural and product design-related. The Foundation is also involved in the cataloging of art exploring more personal and private subjects – from the architect’s life at Lago Maggiore to his summer holidays, travels around the world and more.
